Cadillac Jack's Journal

This is the story about the growth of a puppy. Pictures will be posted every two to four weeks so that others can see this puppy grow up and the various stages he goes through as he grows up. We hope you enjoy watching his progress.

Two Weeks Old

At this age, Cadillac Jack spends most of his time sleeping. His eyes are not yet open. He eats every four hours and keeps his human and doggie mommies busy. He lives in a box on the washing machine with an ordinary light bulb lamp. The temperature in the box is 85 to 90 degrees. Puppies are born unable to maintain their temperature so to prevent them from getting chilled they are kept warm. He weighs two and three quarter pounds.

Eight Weeks Old

What do you have Cadillac? Cadillac loves to grab things he shouldn't have. His favorite toy at the moment is a empty plastic pop bottle that he likes carrying around, but only when we can watch him. Soon he will be restricted to tougher toys like nylabones. He also loves to get his teeth on an old glove or sock or shoe. He now weighs sixteen and a half pounds. He loves being let out of his box to play and can be expected to growl when anyone picks him up to put him back in his box. He has had his first shots and has been wormed. He would now be ready to go on to a new home. However he will be staying with us at Bullmoose. Below is a side view of this pretty fellow.

Cadillac may look like he has stubby legs in this picture, but he doesn't. This was the best picture mom could get because Cadillac is too busy to stand still for things like pictures. He'd rather check out the hallway or look around to see what he hasn't seen yet.

Ten Weeks Old

Cadillac loves to untie shoes. Pulling on shoelaces is a lot of fun for him. He likes pull toys and and a little tug of war if he can find some human buddy to oblige. Curiosity is his middle name. He is quick to check out things around him. Everything is done on the run and he enjoys his walks outside with my husband Dan and myself.

Bones!!!
Did someone say bones? One of the things Cadillac likes most is eating. He now polishes off a cup and a half of Eukanuba Large Breed Dog food with gusto. He still likes his goat milk at this age.

Cadillac is a sturdy little guy who is growing taller each day. It won't be long until he moves to bigger quarters. He is also starting to wear a collar. He goes pretty much whatever way he wants at the moment, but soon he will be following along as he should. He has very little trouble with steps in and out of the house. He now weighs 30 pounds.

Twelve Weeks Old

Our handsome fellow is growing up. He now walks well on the leash. We did have a little stubbornness on this, but Cadillac enjoys going outside too much to argue about it. As soon as he sees that leash he runs for the door waiting to be on his way. He likes to visit the other dogs in the kennel and tries to play with them. However at his size, it still looks more like David trying to play with the giant. He still seems to enjoy himself. Steps no longer bother him much and he is in and out of the house with little or no trouble.

Four Months Old

Cadillac takes time to visit his Dad, Bullmoose Teacher's Pet or Roy, as he is fondly called. His head looks a little small compared to his daddy, but it will equal it in time. Both Cadillac and his father have wonderful dispositions and have a lot of giddy-up and go energy. Of course both of them are pretty neat guys to know.

Cadillac may look like he has a halo on the top of his head, but it's just a little sunshine coming through the window. He likes to periodically sit down and look things over before charging forward into whatever activity is happening. Whatever we are doing looks like fun for him.

Five Months Old

Cadillac looks kind of sad here. He is normally a happy boy. He is now going to puppy school and learning some basic behaviors such as sit, down, heel, etc. He just loves it. Everyone is greeted with that upraised front paw. He tries to tap any dog that comes to visit on the head with his paw. He looks like he's trying to count them. Let me see. Here's....1, there's....2, here comes....3. Anyway Cadillac is having a high old time meeting humans and puppies alike.
